Thought piece – Global Talent Scheme trial

Australian Government Global Talent Scheme trial

Tom Hutchinson – Client Partner at Pacific Search Partners

The Global Talent Scheme trial announced by Australian Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs Minister Alan Tudge is a really positive initiative. It provides support to our science, engineering and technology clients, and will partly offset the abolition of the old 457 visa from 18th March this year. With the minimum $180K income threshold for employees in businesses either turning over in excess of $4m or ASX listed, it also provides much needed flexibility for international mobility at the senior end of our labour market.
